Why buy a property in Cox?
Cox is a town of around 7,000 people in the Vega Baja del Segura, the farming plain inland from Torrevieja and Guardamar, with the ridge of the Sierra de Callosa rising directly behind it. Life here is Spanish first: a market, bars where the regulars are neighbours, orange and lemon groves at the end of the street. That is the appeal for buyers who want a house rather than a flat and are happy to drive to the sea. A three-bedroom house here costs what a two-bedroom apartment costs in Orihuela Costa, and the town has what a permanent home needs, schools, a health centre and supermarkets, with the A-7 motorway a few minutes away. Elche and Orihuela, the two nearest cities, are each about twenty minutes by car.
Where to buy in Cox?
Seven homes are on offer at the moment, all recent, all in small residential developments with a shared pool. Four are bungalows, homes in small two-storey buildings where you choose between the ground floor with its private garden and the upper floor with a roof solarium, 62 to 78 m² with two or three bedrooms, between 209,000 and 239,000 euros. Three are houses on their own plot, listed here as chalets, of 82 to 94 m² with two or three bedrooms, from 233,000 to 255,000 euros, among the least expensive houses on a plot in our catalogue within half an hour of the beaches. Every home has two bathrooms, and four of the seven have three bedrooms. There are no large apartment buildings and no front-line prices in Cox; the whole offer sits in a band of fifty thousand euros.
How to get to Cox?
The A-7 motorway passes a few minutes from the town. Alicante airport is about 30 minutes away, Murcia-Corvera about 45. The nearest beaches, at Guardamar del Segura, are 30 minutes by car, with Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa a little further. Elche is twenty minutes north, Orihuela fifteen minutes south and Murcia forty minutes away.
