Why buy a property in Pilar de la Horadada?
Pilar de la Horadada is the southernmost municipality of the province of Alicante, wedged between Orihuela Costa and San Pedro del Pinatar, where the Costa Blanca meets the Mar Menor. The town itself sits a few kilometres inland, a working Spanish town with a market, schools and a health centre, while its four kilometres of coast are shared between Mil Palmeras, Las Higuericas, Torre de la Horadada and El Mojón: sandy beaches backed by pines and low-rise residential streets, quieter than Orihuela Costa a few minutes to the north. Prices follow. A new apartment or bungalow here usually costs less than its equivalent in La Zenia or Cabo Roig for the same distance to the sea, and property for sale in Pilar de la Horadada comes overwhelmingly in small complexes with communal pools, the format that lets well in summer and lives easily the rest of the year. Two golf courses, Lo Romero and Las Ramblas, are within ten minutes, and the salt lagoons of San Pedro, a protected natural park, begin at the southern edge of the municipality.
Where to buy in Pilar de la Horadada?
Eighty-two homes are listed at the moment, and bungalows are half of them: forty-one homes in small two-storey buildings, where you choose between a ground floor with its own garden and an upper floor with a roof solarium, mostly two or three bedrooms on 60 to 115 m², between 245,000 and 570,000 euros, eleven of them with a private pool. Twenty apartments run from 249,000 to 540,000 euros, several of them within a few hundred metres of the sand. Seven penthouses with roof terraces from 299,000 to 590,000 euros, five houses on their own plot listed as chalets from 315,000 to 659,000 euros, and nine villas with private pools between 426,000 and 730,000 euros complete the picture. A quarter of the selection is within a kilometre of a beach.
Three areas concentrate the offer. Torre de la Horadada, around the sixteenth-century watchtower and the marina, is the most established: a real seaside village with a promenade, a beach on each side and homes a short walk from the water. Mil Palmeras, to the north, is a family beach backed by pines, with quieter residential streets behind it. Lo Romero Golf, inland, is a resort built around an 18-hole course where bungalows and villas overlook the fairways, ten minutes from the coast. The rest of the homes are spread between the town and the other beach urbanisations.
How to get to Pilar de la Horadada?
